Winter Park 2008 Vacation

Check out the pictures.  We did several hikes.  We saw quite a few moose and a fox, some grouse…lots of animal sightings this trip.  We had a really good time.

Sorry it took so long to get these posted.

Last weekend we took a roadtrip up the peak-to-peak highway to see the fall colors.

We stopped at  Lily lake,  just South of Estes Park.  Great views of Longs Peak.

Camping at Kelsey

We found a new campground called Kelsey.  It is close to the Heyman burn area and Cheeseman reservoir.  It is only a little over an hour drive to the campsite.

Hiking Near Home

With the current gas prices, it is harder to just take a trip to the mountains for a day hike.  So, we started looking closer to home for a place to go hiking.  We found this great place.  It is only about 3 miles from our house.   The wildflowers (and a few weeds) were blooming like crazy.  Joe did not think we would get around the loop as I kept finding something to take a picture of.  I had a great time with my camera  and am looking forward to going again on this trail.  I bought some diopters recently and I had not used them until this outing.  Loved them!

I hope you Enjoy!

Camping season is here. But someone needs to tell the mountains. Saturday night was COLD! We looked on weather.com. It got down to 24 degrees in the Lake George area! We lit our little heater and crawled under a down comforter…not so bad. Sunday night was beautiful! Calm and cool. We got thunder and lightening in the night.

We visited the Florissant fossil beds and had fun looking through shale for fossils.

It was great camping! We had great company with our friends John and Angie. They christened their new pop-up…it is one cute trailer!

Enjoy the pictures…

Picture thoughts…

The picture above (in the website header) was taken in September 2007.  The bull elk is trying to keep his harem controlled and under his guard against any other bulls in the area.  If you have not visited Rocky Mountain National Park in the fall, then you have missed a lot of beauty and senerity.  The turning aspens are awesome, the air cool and crisp and the animals are out in abundance.   Don’t forget to visit the West(Grand Lake) side of the park, which is where this picture was taken.  Moose are also out and about on the West side although I have heard that they have now crossed over to the East (Estes Park)

RMNP is one my favorite places to be.
